J. Whalen Associates, Inc. Company History

J. Whalen Associates, Inc. (JWA) was started in San Diego over 14 years ago. With an original focus on land entitlement and environmental processing, the firm has continued to evolve into areas of project management of all development specialties.

JWA has entitled industrial, residential, commercial, master planned communities and mixed-use projects throughout the region. It's Principal, Jim Whalen, is recognized as one of Southern California's leading experts on environmental permitting and processing issues. Over the years, JWA has continued to expand its services, delving into project management in all genres of the entitlement process. The Company has also successfully represented multiple clients in various governmental relations needs at all levels of municipal and legislative bodies throughout the region.

Longstanding JWA work with local utilities continues to expand with their permitting, placement and relocation of facilities. Most recently, JWA has endeavored into redevelopment, infill projects, retail developments, senior housing and affordable housing. The Company has continued to work on regional issues at all levels of government and has been instrumental in preparing regional MSCP and NCCP plans for clients.

Working to create a one-stop shop, JWA now has a certified California Real Estate Broker in the office.
